"Could this be due to the fact that I'm in demo mode and this will not work until I have a license?"

No. You're missing something in the settings. Both V2 and V3 beta firmware work with BI 5, registered or demo as I've tried them both.

If you want to test out the RTSP feed to either wyze cam version, use VLC to load up the stream. If it doesn't work there, it's a settings issue on the camera, or firewall on the system you're using. If it works with VLC and not BI then it's a settings issue on BI.
Statistics: Posted by teredactle — Mon Feb 28, 2022 5:20 am

I have been trying to test out Blue Iris before trying to purchase, and I first tried testing with a Wyze v2 and tried everything and don't get any success with that one, and then just now I finally flashed my Wyze v3 camera hoping it would be a better experience, and at the moment I get nothing from the camera when I configure it exactly as shown in the images from the post above. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, as I have RTSP enabled in the camera settings, so I'm at a loss why others seem to be working just fine but I cannot get any Wyze cameras to work. Could this be due to the fact that I'm in demo mode and this will not work until I have a license?
Statistics: Posted by jasonb — Sun Jan 16, 2022 7:47 pm

Stephen: I would advise against building a system with a promise of future RTSP firmware. I imagine Wyze sell the cameras cheap, so they can charge $$$'s for their cloud recording. RTSP firmware is not in their commercial interest.

iammrbt: Thixotropic is both right and wrong about his reply.

Thixotropic stated that the Wyze RTSP support is lacking, and that he gave up with them. Thixotropic is both right and wrong about his reply. The V3's do not currently support the RTSP firmware but Wyze has stated several times that they are "working on it" but have not committed to a timeline. The V2's and the Pan's both support RTSP firmware but it is a little buggy and even certain router settings (such as Airtime Fairness) can cause issues.

I have a ton of different security camera's (I work in the industry so many are sort of permanent loans) and Thixotropic is correct that for a "security" camera use there are many other options out there that will be more stable (just the nature of wireless really). However if you're on a budget and have $20 to spend, a V2 will make a great start for you.
Statistics: Posted by iammrbt — Wed Dec 30, 2020 2:15 pm
