Choose the alert label for an object in an AI configuration by selecting the video frame with the largest bounding box. This approach is typically more effective because larger objects within an image are generally recognized with higher accuracy.

This approach addresses my issue where a fox at a distance is mistakenly identified as a cat by the AI, often with a confidence level greater than 80%. As the fox moves closer to the camera, it is recognized as a fox with a confidence level exceeding 95%. Setting the confidence threshold above 95% could result in missing some fox detections.

And who makes that determination?

Using Blue Iris to spy on its own users is certainly a novel use case. Not sure I'd call it a 'feature'.

Seems like key and screen loggers in the respective workstations of concern would be a more effective technique.

The ability to see what recordings a user has watched.
We currently have the ability to see how many frames a user has watched and the duration of the video under the Connections tab in Status window but having the ability to see exactly what videos a user reviewed would be very useful for auditing users to make sure they're watching the right things.

BVR Trimming

It would be nice to trim and save an existing BVR section as a separate BVR without re-encoding. Allows to save plenty of disk space in home setup, if done daily to keep only small video sections of interest. When required, some of these sections can be converted later to MP4, possibly in bulk on a more powerful PC. However, conversion might make them inadmissible into evidence in some jurisdictions, where video evidence is often treated by courts as "hearsay", especially if its not the original footage.

Why Trim feature wasn't added for all years BI exists? Its obvious not everyone wants or able to keep tons of useless recordings, or re-encode select sections daily for no particular reason, but only because its impossible to trim the BVR and preserve its overlay timestamp.

Better late than never...

I do think this is going to be more and more common with the explosion of solar options. I'd sure have some if this feature existed. I realize this would have to be with non-cloud based cameras only and those are just starting to be cheap and common recently like this one / brand:

"Battery Save Mode"
For use with solar cameras that would die if live constant streams are pulled.
With the explosion of inexpensive solar cameras this may be something BI needs to deal with eventually.

· "enable battery saving mode" (in camera setup)
In this mode Blue Iris would not stream constantly but rather poll camera every minutes for any new
SD card local recordings and downloads/insert new onboard recorded clips into Blue Iris video timeline for that camera.

In "battery saving mode" mode BI would use last seen frame (still frame) in all views other than "single camera". Maybe with "Battery Saver" in red in the bottom left corner.

In isolated camera view BI would try and pull live video stream, if available.

Request: Allow for status errors to auto-clear, or only alert when error persists for a certain length of time.

I have an error that pops up every couple days that says "live.sem stuck." I haven't found a ton of info (other than a recommendation not to run BI in a VM, which I am not) on the error. But, I haven't noticed any problems as a result of it. The error clears right away, but I get the blinking red x and this would give me nuisance status alerts if I were to configure them, and I would like to.

Hi unj,

BIC looks like a third party program, so you would have to contact the author with your suggestion. I use UI3 on networked pc's. Is there any reason you think BIC is more suitable for you ?

My feature request concerns the Windows store app Blue Iris Companion. I just got a new PC in my house, and BI will continue to run on the previous PC as a server of sorts. I just downloaded the BIC-app and it runs fine. I would just like it to be able to fill the appscreen with one of the camera-scenarios available, instead of having all the GUI (marked with red) taking up precious screen space.

Feature Request:

Record both Continuous and Triggered video for the same camera.
This way you can record continuous files into "New" for, as example, 7 days and later only move Triggered files to "Stored". Saves a lot of storage.
The current way is to clone the camera and set one up for continuous and the other for triggered only. But that also requires double the CPU power.
Maybe I don't understand the request, but isn't this what you're looking for?

That would still move both Continuous and Triggered material to Stored once the threshold is reached, if I see this correctly? My approach would be to only move Triggered footage to Stored, keep that for a year and delete Continuous after 2 or so weeks.

Yep. When the wind is blowing pretty hard they travel quite a distance when you are zoomed way in. Their movement is mostly back and forth whereas human/other movement can be up and down and they don't move with the tree leaves and branches in the same way...

That sounds complex and might be a good candidate for that open source side-package that does some machine learning. I've been interested in that integration but haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

It is the motion of the shadows that has always killed me. BI isn't smart enough yet to distinguish the shadow motion from the object motion.

Zone crossing triggers have had some success with my scenario. I make the shadow movement be within one zone then they are ignored with triggers only when something crosses out or into that zone.

In 'Motion Sensor', there is an option called 'Cancel Shadows'. It's depreciated, and will be removed at some future point.
I've used it, and it does work... to a point.

What I've done instead, is to use Zone triggering, putting the two zones farther apart, where one, or both) of the zones will not get the shadow movement in them. I connect both zones using a third zone. Works very well.

Feature suggestion: Turn the "Settings" gear icon red or yellow when there's an update; this way people won't have to click it and then click the "Check for News and Updates" button to see if there's an update.

This would be especially useful for people like me who have automatic updates turned off.

Funny, because I was having the opposite problem until I figured it out. I too have updates disabled, but every time I launch the console, I get the popup saying there's an update. If I don't update, I click cancel, and it shows up at every console launch. It may be related to which button is selected on the update screen, in that if you select to stay with your current version, for example, and click okay, maybe that prevents update notifications. Just guessing, but the point is, if I click cancel, I get a splash at every launch - kind of a reminder that there's an update.

I wouldn't mind knowing what your updates dialog looks like to compare.
