Blueiris caught hell over this snafu which also affected Quickbooks and other programs and was a result of a Microsoft issue. I've just checked the BI exes, yesterday the Thawte cert was showing as "Disallowed" today it has "This certificate has expired or is not yet valid."<br><br>This is why it has started to work as the status of the cert has changed, a previously valid cert that has since expired can be be used and will continue to be valid, hence the exes now working.<br><br>This status change of the cert is probably nothing to do with BI, probably pushed out by Thawte via Microsoft?<p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="https://blueirissoftware.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=78">IAmATeaf</a> — Fri Aug 25, 2023 11:21 am</p><hr />

And everything working again on my end it seems so far... So the fix could be done without forcing customers to buy the latest version.<br>Feel bad for people who listened to the Official Advise from BI and spent more money when they really didn't have to.<br>Again proving BI simply wanted more customers money, despite having a "lifetime" license to begin with. <br><br>A massive thank you to all the individual customers posting here to assist with solutions rather than just throwing money at the problem. <br><br>In the mean time, I think its best we all start looking at alternative solutions. This is all very confusing.<br><br>BI version 5.7.9.1.  I have all the latest Windows 10 updates.  I've rebooted several times for various reasons. Just completely stopped BI (service, etc.) and restarted and lo and behold it is recording again and not showing that idiotic "warning".<br><br>Not sure what they did but credit where credit is due:  It appears fixed for now.<br><br>Edit:  Nevermind. IF they wanted to kill the app and force an upgrade, then there are better ways to do that.<br><br>I believe a Windows PC even with updates off still synchronises and updates the certificate store in some way.  It needs to otherwise you'd loose web access to other items.  Once that Thwaite certificate was marked as untrusted, then windows knew not to trust it.<br><br>I don't blame BI sales\support to attempt to use this as a sales opportunity.  I gave them $70 four years ago for a quality product, and don't mind now giving them an extra $30 for all those years untroubled CCTV I have had from them.
