Cool. (And we crossed posts again.)

I would take AI out of the mix entirely for testing and go from there..., or just roll back to your previous working versions of both BI and CPAI until someone else figures this out, or reports it as the latest problem in the neverending saga of 'latest stable releases' and another update is released to fix the last one...again.

Update, Thanks for the hint @pogo, it looks like the "Database Only" fixed the issue, how or why i cant tell. but so fare it works even after a couple of "triggers" both new and old alerts seem to work again

Is the 'Add to alerts list' set to Export to MP4 files for AI purposes? If so, how are those parameters set up to play an MP4 clip instead of a BVR?

Change the add to the alerts list setting to 'Database only' to see if that fixes the immediate problem. If so, then figure out how the AI things are hosed up.

I think that i read somewhere that for CPAI to work it should export to MP4/BVR, but will give it a try with the "Database Only"

Good point.

And where is the naming convention coming from for the mp4s?

It initially looked like \Indkeorsel and \Baghave1 were directories instead of filenames before it dawned on me that they're probably located in Alerts.

But yeah, how? Unless they were originally created as mp4s to begin with or subsequently converted by whatever process before being saved to Alerts..., and poorly at that. And aren't .dat files only put in 'Alerts' as AI files.

Perhaps a poor implementation/integration of CPAI is in the weeds here somewhere?

Definitely beyond my pay grade so I'll just sit back and watch..., and hopefully learn something new that I probably don't want to know anyway.

Perhaps this is just yet another new feature? LOL

hmm you may be right, it could perhaps be CPAI which is causing these error/issues, as i haven dont any changes only updated BI and CPAI, why did i not think about this. i was only focusing on BI as the issue started after the jump to 5.9.2 but forgot that i together with BI also updated CPAI..

I will try to see if there is anything in the logs for CPAI

But the part that doenst make sense for me is, how come all of the clips and alerts work as soon as i do a" Delete and regenerate" until a new alert are created, then i get the same error on all of the clips even the ones that did work after a "delete and regerate"

Where is the folder with the .dat and .mp4 files in the screenshot? And how are those files being created?

H, the .dat and .mp4 files are located under "C:\BlueIris\Alerts"
and .jpg and .bvr are under "C:\BlueIris\New"

Strange ... the filename and location that appeared in the dialog you posted earlier doesn't match with the filename format that your camera screen shot shows?

When you look at your folders new, storage and alerts, are the files in the right folders and do they have filenames that match the format specified? if so, I wonder how this dialog came up with what it did? What originated that earlier screen shot ?

the files does appear to be in the right folder and with the same filename as shown in Blue iris

I did verify that the files are on the path and are also able to view them with windows media play.

I glanced over that and it sorta answers my original question. Something appears to be hosed up in your original encoding.

Use Direct-to-Disk and save the files in BVR format. They should play correctly in Blue Iris..., but not anywhere else.

Then convert and export in the format of choice between MP4, AVI, or WMV for external viewing.

I have been running Blue Iris since version 3.66 many years ago and have only ever used direct to disk with BVR file format.

The question was for the OP.

.....if you want to save video clips to send to third parties for any reason, you do have to export to mp4.

Conversion and export from BVR is not limited to MP4. AVI and WMV are also options.
