I haven't tried the new audio triggers, but it is clear a lot of work has been done to make this a possibility. If the info available in the Help file isn't enough, then it will need an email to Support and a lot of experimentation.
Statistics: Posted by TimG — Mon Jun 24, 2024 6:09 am

Setting up audio triggers for BI is not uncommon. As with evrything Blue Iris, you can make it as simple or as difficult as you want.

If your intent is to implement a fire alarm going off as an audio trigger for a Blue Iris alert in the event of smoke or fire detection, just use a small ONVIF camera with audio out and there's your BI trigger source. But it still needs to be conveyed to an end point, presumably a remote one requiring push, email, whatever....

On the other hand, the TP-Link Tapo C110 Swiss Army Knife of simple and effective solutions comes to mind for 20 bucks..., which after all is basically a baby monitor and could also work just as well (or possibly better) than BI for the purpose intended here via its own more than capable app.

Plug it in. Done.
Statistics: Posted by Pogo — Sat Jun 22, 2024 8:14 pm

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to setup an audio event in Blue Iris that would trigger when say a smoke detector goes off? I've read through the manual and noticed there's a mention of audio triggers and states the following on page 66:

"Here a signal generator was used to provide a proper frequency over the required 2.0 seconds in order to trigger. You may use this to recognize your doorbell, phone ringer, fire or other home alarms"

So I'm assuming it can be done but I'm not entirely sure how to implement this specific use case.

Has anyone successfully set up Blue Iris to detect and alert based on a smoke alarm sound? If so, could you share your approach or any tips?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
SN
Statistics: Posted by Sardon — Sat Jun 22, 2024 4:01 pm
