Hi all,

I recently swapped my porch camera motion detection from Gaussian to Edge Vector. While it significantly reduced the amount of false positives I was getting due to tree shadows, it seems to have also significantly reduced the ability to detect actual people motion.

More details:

I have my porch split into 7 different motion zones. This is to cover all the possible ways someone could get to my front door. It appears that motion is only detected as an individual gets closer to where the camera; and no motion detected (of a human) if the individual casually walks up to my porch, loiters around the front door and then gets in as the door is open - all of this used to be detected with Gaussian detection methodology. It's worth noting that false positives from shadows is still detected - but much less than before.

Here's a visual representation of my zoning:

The object detection configuration:

Motion detection settings:

And where a human has to be in order for it to detect:

So - is edge vector compatible with multiple zones, or should I rezone? Anything else I can try?

Thanks!
Statistics: Posted by mcfuzz89 — Thu Oct 24, 2019 7:35 pm
