Well the Help file contains this:

Using a microphone to talk or send audio to the camera is supported for many models in one of several ways:
Amcrest AD and ASH models are supported using a proprietary DLL and connection.
For many other specific make/model selections (not generic/ONVIF), “talk” has been reverse engineered. This includes many models offered by Axis, Wansview (and its many compatibles), Sharx, Trendnet (and its many compatibles), DLink, Hikvision, LevelOne, AVTech, Dahua, Doorbird, and others.
Rarely implemented, some cameras support an RTSP “backchannel” to get the audio back to the camera. This channel is continuously open and sends silence when not in use. If your camera does not support this, the talk device setting will be automatically reverted to (this camera).
The Axis network speaker is supported with a separate IP address on your network.
You also may select to send audio to another camera completely.
If talk is not supported by Blue Iris on the configured make/model, the sound will be played from the PC’s speakers instead.
You may select on this page a WAV sound file to be played when talk begins (a “hail” sound clip) and when talk ends (an “over” sound clip). Think Star Trek communicator sounds here!

Due to the lack of further instructions it must be fairly easy. My best guess is:

1. Setting it up like you have above would enable the BI5 talk back functionality for that camera (If that IP address is the Axis camera).
2. BI5 General Settings/ Audio - Set up your microphone.
3. Back on main BI5 screen, there is a microphone button:

If you have completed 1&2 what happens when you press that ? You may have to choose a camera first - let us know what you see (or hear !). And Ken is a Trekkie
Statistics: Posted by TimG — Sat Jul 06, 2024 9:07 am

Yes using microphone on my phone with the blue iris android app to speak to the cameras. If u use desktop, IOS then there are no issues. Yes audio listen/talk is enabled. I can hear what is going on from the mic on the camera but can't send audio to the speaker on the camera. I have an email chain with support that they were unable to resolve the issue and was told it could be related to phone, etc. When I do press the mic icon on the android app it never allows it to be enabled. Goes green for a second or 2 then clears itself.
Statistics: Posted by timmmmah — Wed Jan 06, 2021 3:57 am

So 2 way talk does work. I got it working with the iphone app and https/ssl setup directions. However for the android app it doesn't work unless you use a vpn as the ssl drops the speaker packets to camera unless you use a vpn and http. I filed a ticket with support and they were unable to come up with a solution. So if I want to speak I have been logging in thru VPN. Other then that everything is working.
Statistics: Posted by timmmmah — Tue Jan 05, 2021 6:34 am

Hi mcmattingly,

Have you sent an email to support on this matter ? They will often log in directly to your computer to find out what the problem is, but there are so many different cameras that there is no generic "fix"- let them know all details of the camera and pc system.
Statistics: Posted by TimG — Mon Jan 04, 2021 3:47 pm

Yes . I have tried tons of settings even when I know the ones I have are correct none work. If you have the same camera and have it working on the latest please let me know what your settings are.

Has anyone gotten an answer or fix for this? Last year, 2019 I bought BI solely for its claimed 2-Way Audio support. I have gone through 3 commercial DVR's that were supposed to do this and not one of them have worked. After buying BI5 in 2019 I discovered this thread and held off installing until November of 2020 because of reports that BI5 was having issues with this function. My one year of support has run out before I even used the software and I will not bother to renew the support if they have no intention to fix this issue. After three paper weight commercial DVR''s, I am fed up pouring money down a rat hole and so far BI5 appears as just one more dead end rat hole!!! It's interesting to me that 2-Way Audio works on the cameras I have if I use either the internal camera web server or the, "free" NVR software that came with the Chinese camera. Unfortunately, that software lacks too many other features and has security and stability issues. I don't understand why this one feature seems to be so difficult or impossible for the entire industry to do with any degree of consistency.
Statistics: Posted by mcmattingly — Sun Jan 03, 2021 7:12 pm

I have been having the same issues with all my Amcrest cameras since BI5 came out, I submitted a ticket on Oct. 14th 2019 but still no response. So much for purchasing BI5 and upgrading my support , no response is not acceptable. I used BI4 for years without any issue then BI5 comes out and everything goes haywire. Really considering going to something else for my surveillance needs. Not happy at all lately with no support anymore.
Statistics: Posted by firebyrd1971 — Thu Oct 31, 2019 12:50 pm
