I've made some progress.

I could not get Smart Motion Detection to work (as in to send an ONVIF event other than isMotion).

I did get IVS to work. I was originally using it in tripwire and missing most events, but if I used the intrusion with both appears and crosses, I am getting decent human recognition now, and those events are showing in BI.

This appeared after I set it up in the camera (as expected).

The actual rule fire (per ONVIF manager) includes an Object ID, but I don't see any indication to distinguish human from vehicle (or from animal if enabled).

Code:

0 8/11/2024 3:27:53.722 PMcamFrontDoor MQTT: Publish OK to BlueIris/camFrontDoor/Status0 8/11/2024 3:27:57.336 PMcamFrontDoor ONVIF Event: RuleEngine/CellMotionDetector/Motion3 8/11/2024 3:27:57.341 PMcamFrontDoor Triggered: ONVIF (RuleEngine/CellMotionDetector/Motion)0 8/11/2024 3:27:58.984 PMcamFrontDoor ONVIF Event: RuleEngine/FieldDetector/ObjectsInside (IsInside="true")0 8/11/2024 3:28:01.394 PMcamFrontDoor AI: [Objects] person:93% [1182,451 1554,1160] 177ms0 8/11/2024 3:28:01.394 PMcamFrontDoor AI: person:93%3 8/11/2024 3:28:01.395 PMcamFrontDoor Alerted

CPAI determined it was a person, but the IVS rule doesn't seem to indicate that, at least not as BI sees it. I have isMotion enabled and presume when I disable that in BI that I'll only get motion the IVS determines is human, animal or vehicle (i'll remove animal, maybe, or maybe leave CPAI to make that determination and cancel animals but leave them as cancelled alerts).

IVS at least has the potential for being more thorough as you calibrate scale. I need to play with that more to see if it helps (e.g. CPAI this morning picked up a mocking bird as a human, which I presume an awareness of scale/size would have fixed).

I am surprised that the IVS rules don't convey to BI what type of object was detected though. But that's not a huge problem.

Anyone who has IVS working well, advice welcomed!
Statistics: Posted by Ferguson — Sun Aug 11, 2024 7:40 pm

Hmmm... I may not have the latest firmware. Though I am confused. Tech support gave me what I have now a month or so ago, but on their web site there's a 5/16/2024 version. Empire Tech Camera IPC-T5xIR-ZE-S3 cameras, and trying to get them fine tuned with BI and CPAI. I am running V3.100.15OG000.0.R, Build Date: 2023-11-27 which I think is the latest.

I found the Smart Motion Detection for Human and Vehicle, and figured I could reduce the CPAI workload by just looking for the people and cars, which are my main concern. I set up the camera as in the first screen shot. In the events I checked the two indicated with red arrows (not as shown in the screen shot).

The camera would log the event in its log, but never fired. I dug a bit deeper with ONVIF manager and its events display, and the camera was sending motion events but never sent the rule detector event for people and vehicle. But it's clearly in the camera event log, so it is detecting.

Does anyone have this working, feeding in these specific events? If so, any magic?

I do not think this is a BI problem because ONVIF manager also doesn't see it (that presumes I am using it correctly, however, and I only use it once every 2 or 3 years for debugging). I haven't figured out how to isolate events in wireshark (anyone know?).

I also tried the IVS option under AI. It looks easy to set up, but I stood directly in front of the camera and it never detected me as a "human trait" so I must be missing something, and fell back to Smart Motion Detection.

Motion detection is working fine (well, sort of fine, having trouble fine tuning it so every bug doesn't trigger) and CPAI is mostly filtering well. But seems like the camera is a better place to do it if it would work, it just doesn't seem to communicate (SMD) or trigger (IVS).

Advice welcomed.

Statistics: Posted by Ferguson — Sun Aug 11, 2024 3:31 pm

I think I'm wrong about one of these (at least). The Alert on Alert and On Reset appear to sync. What's confusing is if you do this:

Set Camera B to sync from A.
Camera A, set on-alert to something, call it Y
Camera B, un-set sync on alert tab
Camera B, set on-alert to something, call it X.
OK back out
Camera B, set on-alert tab to sync from A.

I think that after this series of events, B's alerts actually are Y (coming from A). But if you now:

Go to camera B's alert tab, turn off sync, go into the alerts, it shows X.

So it appears in sync'ing, it does not actually bring in the values, but persists what were there before.

I think. There doesn't appear to be any way to know which fields, if any, fail to sync, as you can't just turn off sync and look.

I think.

This seems like a particularly confusing model if indeed there are some items that do not sync. The copy command, for example, does not copy actions; my presumption was that implied to sync also.

This is exacerbated by not understanding exactly when a sync occurs. I think (I'm saying that a lot) that it occurs only when you go into a camera's settings and hit OK. Maybe something else does it, but it does NOT appear to happen as soon as you change the source camera. I think. This is what has misled me in a lot of trial and error testing.
Statistics: Posted by Ferguson — Sat Aug 10, 2024 10:35 pm

I do use Mosquito for other things, and those work fine as well.

I wish I had saved my setup from the prior house. I know this was working once upon a time, though I made little actual use of it (as in automations), it was more to view, and I can't say I've looked at it in a long time. It could have broken in a prior BI version and I may never have noticed. Also, these are different cameras. I did have to change the setting to say "Motion" as when I used &TYPE it was a long string that HA didn't interpret as a motion event, but I think that's a different concern than the AI Memo.

I'm a bit surprised that it says this is the AI memo, but what it looks like is the ONIVF event. But I confirmed that CPAI was called and confirmed the alert.

Statistics: Posted by Ferguson — Sat Aug 10, 2024 8:16 pm

I'm sure I've had that working before. Can you show your BI5 On Alert/ Action set/ MQTT settings for it ? I've got MQTT outputting car number plates from BI5 via MQTT and Homeseer reading them out via Alexa speakers. The other use was to restrict the BI5 MQTT to only trigger when "Required AI Objects: Person" which then only needed a "ON" as the payload to allow Homeseer to control the drive lights.

From my notes, Variables that can be used are:

•{"plate":"&PLATE"} which gives you the OCR’d number plate,
•{"AlertImgPath":"&ALERT_PATH"} gives the path of the jpg image,
•{"Alert_AI":"&MEMO"} gives the ALPR AI info.
•{"Date":"%d-%m-%Y %H:%M:%S"} gives date and time,
•{"Camera":"&CAM"} adds in the camera name that was triggered.
•{"type":"&TYPE"} will show which motion detection was triggered.

And these can be used individually, or combined into one payload.
Statistics: Posted by TimG — Sat Aug 10, 2024 7:09 pm
