Empire Tech Camera IPC-T5xIR-ZE-S3 cameras, and trying to get them fine tuned with BI and CPAI. I am running V3.100.15OG000.0.R, Build Date: 2023-11-27 which I think is the latest.

I found the Smart Motion Detection for Human and Vehicle, and figured I could reduce the CPAI workload by just looking for the people and cars, which are my main concern. I set up the camera as in the first screen shot. In the events I checked the two indicated with red arrows (not as shown in the screen shot).

The camera would log the event in its log, but never fired. I dug a bit deeper with ONVIF manager and its events display, and the camera was sending motion events but never sent the rule detector event for people and vehicle. But it's clearly in the camera event log, so it is detecting.

Does anyone have this working, feeding in these specific events? If so, any magic?

I do not think this is a BI problem because ONVIF manager also doesn't see it (that presumes I am using it correctly, however, and I only use it once every 2 or 3 years for debugging). I haven't figured out how to isolate events in wireshark (anyone know?).

I also tried the IVS option under AI. It looks easy to set up, but I stood directly in front of the camera and it never detected me as a "human trait" so I must be missing something, and fell back to Smart Motion Detection.

Motion detection is working fine (well, sort of fine, having trouble fine tuning it so every bug doesn't trigger) and CPAI is mostly filtering well. But seems like the camera is a better place to do it if it would work, it just doesn't seem to communicate (SMD) or trigger (IVS).

Advice welcomed.

Statistics: Posted by Ferguson — Sun Aug 11, 2024 3:31 pm — Replies 8 — Views 148

I'm just running into a lot of issues making me think I am doing something incorrectly.

Trying to configure BI to work with Home Assistant which requires MQTT. I have it working but an expected field is being truncated (or possibly just has the wrong content), and not sure why.

I have the on-alert configured with this payload:

Code:

{"type":"Motion","trigger":"On", "memo": "&MEMO"}

The &MEMO is documented as showing the AI's processing confidence as well as what was detected. What I get instead is only this:

Code:

{"type":"Motion","trigger":"On", "memo": "RuleEngine/CellMotionDetector/Motio"}

It appears to be substantially truncating the full memo. It's not an underlying MQTT limitation as I tried adding &JSON and I get the full, long value set including locations, confidence, etc (as below). That's something in theory I could use to get the same info, but it's not what I want. I know in the past I did something to get it showing things like "Person: 93%" though I do not recall precisely.

Am I missing something? Can someone please confirm my understanding. This comes from experimentation, and I do not see it documented. Or, maybe documented.

When I sync camera B to camera A, and do so on the trigger tab, and on the alerts tab, there appear to be aspects that are not sync'd. For example, on the alerts tab the ONVIF triggering items and the On Trigger and On Reset are not sync'd.

HOWEVER, they are not available to change either. You have to un-sync in order to access those fields. Or even to see what's in those fields. But I think (emphasis on think as I've had inconsistent results) that those items persist in whatever state you leave them if you sync again. Maybe.

The motion zones are related and even a bit more strange; if using ONVIF detection with camera zones, you still have to define motion zones for CPAI to exclude those zones (use case: let's say you detect motion on the right side only, but there's a car parked on the left side of a frame; if there's motion (say a bird flies by) then CPAI will see the car on the non-detecting side unless you exclude it in the BI Motion zone, even though you are not using BI Motion detection). I am still a bit unclear what is going on, as the zones keep resetting for me, so it may be (or may not) that the sync is overwriting it.

This all seems very confusing and frankly wrong -- if the sync is not affecting ONVIF events (for example), why is ONVIF events greyed out when sync is on?

And is motion detection zones supposed to work the same way, or is that actually being sync'd?

The result of all this is that I have both alerts and trigger not sync'd, though I really want them to be. I WANT the ONVIF and On Trigger and On Reset to be the same on all cameras. The only thing I do want different is the motion zones, which seems to NOT persist individual changes.

Is my interpretation right?

Is this just broken, or am I not understanding the paradigm?

Linwood
Statistics: Posted by Ferguson — Sat Aug 10, 2024 5:26 pm — Replies 1 — Views 180

Running BI 5.9.4.11 x 64 with Code Project 2.6.5. This was all working fine together, I got 4 new cameras and decided to clean up and make the config consistent and somehow, somewhere in doing so I broke something.

Here's the problem -- everything appears to be working, no errors appear anywhere I can find, but BI has stopped confirming alerts with AI. It doesn't show anything in BI to indicate it tried, and watching the status in code project shows no activity.

BI's log shows:

Code:

0 8/9/2024 10:04:35.566 PMLog Retaining 13 files (77.9MB)0 8/9/2024 10:04:35.574 PMServer Started on port 810 8/9/2024 10:04:35.706 PMAI responding at 127.0.0.1:32168

so it thinks it can talk to it, so it appears related to not wanting to confirm. There is nothing in the log concerning AI other than that, and CP's log shows no calls. I've tried tweaking settings in the alert section, restarted CP, restarted BI, rebooted. I feel like I've unchecked some option and just plain forgot. But I can't find it.

Does anyone have any idea what I could have broken?

Again -- this was all working. I made no changes to CP, but did a lot of cleanup of configs in BI so most tabs are sync'd from one master camera. So I probably changed something. The screen shots are from that master camera and that master camera is the one I am using for testing.

I did set up alerts going to MQTT to get this working with Home Assistant but that should not occur until after confirmation. And it's not showing any errors either.

Here's a typical log of one event:

Code:

0 8/9/2024 10:30:15.311 PMcamBackDriveway ONVIF Event: IsMotion="true"0 8/9/2024 10:30:15.311 PMcamBackDriveway ONVIF Event: MotionAlarm (State="true")0 8/9/2024 10:30:15.312 PMcamBackDriveway ONVIF Event: RuleEngine/CellMotionDetector/Motion0 8/9/2024 10:30:15.313 PMcamBackDriveway ONVIF Event: MotionAlarm (State="true")3 8/9/2024 10:30:15.500 PMcamBackDriveway Triggered: ONVIF (IsMotion="true")3 8/9/2024 10:30:16.108 PMcamBackDriveway Alerted0 8/9/2024 10:30:16.113 PMcamBackDriveway MQTT: Publish OK to BlueIris/camBackDriveway/Status0 8/9/2024 10:30:20.100 PMcamBackDriveway ONVIF Event: RuleEngine/CellMotionDetector/Motion

I am using ONVIF events to detect motion. The android app and the ability to coordinate having multiple phones outside the fence to activate a change, for example, to an “away” schedule is a great feature. Thing is though that the geofence implementation in the android app has proven to be less than prompt or reliable.

I switched to using EgiGeoZone and http messages and that works great (for one phone). My entry/exit happens in precisely the same place on the road leaving or returning to my house every day. Not sure what they do differently, but that app really has nailed the geofence triggering. I have so far though found no way to coordinate multiple phones using EgiGeoZone with BlueIris.

I have an idea of one way and perhaps this might hopefully trigger a discussion on other ways as well.

What if I used the DIO states as a sort of flags and assign a different DIO to each phone. When exiting the geofence, EgiGeoZone could send an http message to set the DIO and similarly when returning, clear the DIO. Now the question becomes “Can I switch to my ‘away’ schedule based on an AND condition of two (or more) DIO states being true. And similarly switch back to my ‘at-home' schedule when the AND condition is not true?

Thanks in advance for advice and a look so alternative ideas.
Statistics: Posted by PeteDD — Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:07 pm — Replies 4 — Views 361
