Re: Your Satisfaction Level with Blue Iris 4K Performance
I run 11 cameras, but only two 4k. rest are 4mb (mostly 5442's). 15 fps, and all run very smooth in BI (current version). H264+ (yes, H265 gave me problems in BI). I used to run motion and CPAI, but updated firmware on the 5442's that alert on animals let me now use IVS only for alerts, eliminating ...

No! Firmware is free. I meant that I decided to replace some older cams with the newer S3 versions since those are the only ones that have the newer firmware that triggers for "Animals" (in my continuing saga to battle deer eating our landscape!)

Re: Empire Tech Camera setup advice (Dahua, IPC-T5xIR-ZE-S3)
In my case, I found that IVS was so reliable alerting on people and animals, and I had zero false triggers in the couple of weeks I've been testing this, that I just didn't need cpai (and BI motion) at all. Plus I get alerts faster this way. Of course this approach is based on having all the cams ta...

Re: Empire Tech Camera setup advice (Dahua, IPC-T5xIR-ZE-S3)
I have several of the T54IR ZE s3 cams. I previously used BI motion and CPAI with success generally, but since new firmware for the camera came out that allows "animal" triggering, I disabled motion and CPAI and now let the camera do the triggers (onvif back to BI and use BI's alerts (with...

Animal alerts with Dahua "S3" cams.
For those that don't read that "other" forum, there is interesting news for anyone who uses the Dahua 5442 S3 series cams and is interested in "animal" alerts. Up to now, the built in AI on the recent cameras only watched for "People" or "Cars", not animals. T...

FWIW, I'm on same version, and none of my cams lost the "zone and hot spot" settings. Maybe camera differences? Mine mostly Dahua, a couple of Annke, all show same map... haven't changed in a while.

Re: Timeline Colors ?
The colors represent different cameras. They reflect the color you set for them in the "Camera Settings" , "General" tab, "Color". If all the cams are the same color here, you will see one band in the timeline, but if you make them different in BI, then each band will r...

Re: Setting up again - any reason not to buy Hikvision?
Daytime will look great, both 4mb and the 8mb (4k) . It's the night that makes the difference... the 8mb on the 1.8 sensor will result in needing more light and therefore more blurring with movement due to slower shutter speed. There's a lot of discussion on this at "that other site"... ta...

Re: Setting up again - any reason not to buy Hikvision?
Mostly sound reasoning, and Empiretech on sale this weekend. But many would actually recommend the 5442 version (4mb on a 1.8 sensor) (IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3)... rather than the 8mb ( IPC-T58IR-ZE S S3) on the same 1.8 sensor... as that 4mb performs better at night. You would want the 8mb to be on a 1.2 se...

Re: Setting up again - any reason not to buy Hikvision?
I have had several Annke and several Dahua (mostly the 5442 versions, one 4kt). Though the Annke is not exactly Hikvision, I read they are close enough, but all in all the Dahua's have been more reliable and easier for me to manage. And I like the 5442 4MB on the 1.8 chip... my Annke's were less des...
