Re: BI5 Crash with Intel NUC

You are really paying a premium for that small form factor. Both in price and performance. But I suppose it has its uses. We have all types on this forum. The guy still using BI v3 despite being offered 50% discount, up to some real extreme systems. I have built a few NUC's for people that I source...

Re: BI5 Crash with Intel NUC

It IS quite the beast I ordered it Sunday and It was delivered Monday afternoon. Windows 10 Pro x64 was pre-installed along with 32GB memory and an Intel 1GB SSD. I thought my desktop PC was fast (Windows 7) but the NUC blows it away. I love the skull! I found a few programs which makes the interfa...

Re: triggers and motion detection

Thanks for the help here. This gives me some things to try out. As for disk space, is it advisable to use a network share for recordings? No, too many unknowns, unless you really know your infrastructure. If you have high-quality cameras and like to shoot Hollywood frame rates, then you want to wri...

Re: BI5 Crash with Intel NUC

I just ordered a new NUC8i7HVK NUC which should be here tomorrow. My current NUC is end of life with no new Windows 7 drivers available. I believe that's the problem. Now, I have to see how to move my BI5 setup to the new NUC. I hope there is an easy way. I have one of the original i3 NUC's, well e...

Re: Is Blue Iris marketed to home or SMB users?

It doesn’t run in a VM because of its need for Quick Sync. Are there any SMB still running physical hosts for one specific application? It’s 2019. If you aren’t running your infrastructure inside of VMs, you are dating yourself and making it harder to migrate, backup, rebuild, etc... than it should...

Re: BI5 Crash with Intel NUC

This may not be what you want to hear, but do yourself a favour and run Windows 10. For the typical user, on the current edition, there is zero learning curve. Your NUC will fly and programs will just work. Suspect BI only supports Windows 7 due to the public pressure, but it really should be droppe...

Re: triggers and motion detection

I also use Sentry which is working quit well. It verify s all motion for people activity before notifying me. Works well for me. Sentry is on my to-do-list, not for the notifications (as BI's are bee's knees). For the daily summary I send a sub-feed to ContaCam ($10 donationware), it provides a gre...

Re: Improvement to accuracy of CPU Utilization in 5.0

Wanted to let everyone know, under 4 I had this issue where I would see some pretty drastic (like between 20 and 40%) difference between the CPU utilization as reported on the BI panel, in comparison to either task manager or an independent utility. BI always reported the CPU as LOWER than actual. ...

Re: triggers and motion detection

The best setup is to "ALWAYS" record and only set alerts based on motion, however if you only want motion then to be safe you will get many false alerts. Also get a CAM with an inbult SD card with constant recording, at max frame rates and maximum quality. H.265+ takes stuff all space. The...
