Camera sync not effective on some items, but not available either

Can someone please confirm my understanding. This comes from experimentation, and I do not see it documented. Or, maybe documented.
When I sync camera B to camera A, and do so on the trigger tab, and on the alerts tab, there appear to be aspects that are not sync'd. For example, on the alerts tab the ONVIF triggering items and the On Trigger and On Reset are not sync'd.
HOWEVER, they are not available to change either. You have to un-sync in order to access those fields. Or even to see what's in those fields. But I think (emphasis on think as I've had inconsistent results) that those items persist in whatever state you leave them if you sync again. Maybe.
The motion zones are related and even a bit more strange; if using ONVIF detection with camera zones, you still have to define motion zones for CPAI to exclude those zones (use case: let's say you detect motion on the right side only, but there's a car parked on the left side of a frame; if there's motion (say a bird flies by) then CPAI will see the car on the non-detecting side unless you exclude it in the BI Motion zone, even though you are not using BI Motion detection). I am still a bit unclear what is going on, as the zones keep resetting for me, so it may be (or may not) that the sync is overwriting it.
This all seems very confusing and frankly wrong -- if the sync is not affecting ONVIF events (for example), why is ONVIF events greyed out when sync is on?
And is motion detection zones supposed to work the same way, or is that actually being sync'd?
The result of all this is that I have both alerts and trigger not sync'd, though I really want them to be. I WANT the ONVIF and On Trigger and On Reset to be the same on all cameras. The only thing I do want different is the motion zones, which seems to NOT persist individual changes.
Is my interpretation right?
Is this just broken, or am I not understanding the paradigm?
