What does "Triggered: External" really mean?

I've hunted around but cannot locate a clear answer.
I have a new camera (hikvision DS-2CD2183G2-IU) and I'm struggling to find the source of a trigger. My two other cameras are working as expected and triggering properly.
However, the new camera triggers with an 'external' indication. Specfically in the Blue Iris Status window I see "Triggered: External (truck:69%)". I can't for the life of me figure out where this is coming from. What does 'External' mean exactly. I do not (I don't believe) have ONVIF events turned on if that might be what that means (not in the camera nor in blue iris config).
What does an Triggered: External mean?
Thanks in advance.

If you don't have CPAI then it must be ONVIF from the camera.

Thanks for the feedback. I do have CPAI enabled but I thought that was only used after a triggering event (like motion detection). The camera does have ONVIF but I don't want to use that and would prefer to just use blue iris motion and CPAI (unless that is a bad idea, I am new to this stuff) for triggering and alerting.
I've gone through config on the camera and in blue iris to turn off any possible external triggers I can see, but there is a lot of config in BI that I may not fully appreciate yet.
Is there a way to find out more about what this 'external' event is and where it cam from? Are there other logs I could look at (other than the "Blue Iris Status" window). I'm a bit at a loss to be honest as to why this is happening.
Thanks again.

Have you looked at the config on the cameras web interface to see if ONVIF events are turned on, I know nothing about hikvision cameras so I don't know if this is an option or not, also check the camera settings in BI on the "Trigger" tab and ensure that ONVIF/camera events is not checked!

Doh, I found it (at least I think I have). The 'External' checkbox in the 'Trigger sources and zones', apologies. I was focused on ONVIF and External was checked on my other cameras (which I guess do not send external triggers).
I would still like to understand what that 'external' message comes from and what it looks like. Presumably this is embedded in the video stream or is it out of band somehow. Is there a standard or specification for this?

I can't give you a straight answer, as it has changed in the past year and may have changed again. It was previously necessary for it to be ticked to use ONVIF commands from the camera, but now it isn't. It will need an email to Support to find out the exact function. Sorry for being useless
