Time Stamp missing on SMS Alerts after upgrade to 5.5.4.5

Post by stavana »

Hi,
since I have updated to version 5.5.4.5 from an earlier version 5 I do not get the timestamp of a motion event in my texts that I have set up in the Alert subject. It works if I go to Alerts Actions and do a test but it does not if DeepStack event generates the Alert SMS why?

See attached the emails generated from my cell phone to mycell@VZWPIX.com for a forced test case vs actual motion detection and the Alert text setting. I have VZ as carrier.

Thanks!

That's a head scratcher... Try using different macros one by one - like %X, %B, &TYPE... does it happen with any one you choose? In combinations?

OK I will try different things to see if I can debug it.
Note that the text field is not even sent in the SMS email when Alert is created due to DeepStack. However, when I TEST the Alert everything is good.

After studying your screenshots a bit more, the first image is the DS confirmed alert notification and has all of the information. It's the TEST that isn't including it - because it's a test. Unless I'm missing something, it's working as expected.

Yes you are correct but that message should also include the time on which camera was triggered as it is configured in the Alerts SMS setting and it does not. This is exactly my question. It used to and now it just tells me that the DS message and confidence % without the SMS configuration I have set up to attach the timestamp of motion.

Man, I'm sorry. You're right. In the middle of thinking about it, I must have had a brain fart. I have to either stop drinking or start drinking...

I'll be honest, I don't understand why it does that with the time. Out of curiosity, why do you need the time in the message header? I mean, the text itself has timestamp, the email server's sent folder has a timestamp, and the camera timestamp is on the image. That's the way I see it anyway.

My problem is that it works when I use the test functionality and I have to try different things with actual motion detect thru the DS engine but I am a few hours away from that location :)

Still - you have the timestamp on the image attached in the text. I agree that it isn't behaving as expected. But if the point is to know the time of the alert you already have that - time text received in sms app, timestamp on image. I only care what time is on the image - timestamps aren't reliable for text messages due to delays and network issues. If you want to know the time that an event of interest occurred, it's on the image.

Very good point that I ignored. YES that would do for now until I figure this out. Thanks for commenting on this!

BTW, I decided to sign up for priority support $99 and throw them this question. I posted on Friday but still no answer. We will see if this is worth it or not

Have a nice weekend...

Closer inspection leads me to conclude that the information put into the SMS subject and body is altered by Deepstack. I don't know where it comes from yet, but look at this composite image of Alert action dialog, SMS sent, & SMS received --> SMS Alerts Composite.

It appears that if using DS, you cannot rely on the accuracy of the macros in the Alert action dialog for SMS.
