BI 5.0.0.61 dead

Post by eboggs_jkvl »

I did the latest update to BI and now it won't run. I see a pop up window as usual as though it is starting, the "pop" sound you normally hear as the program starts is silent, the program pop up disappears and the program fails to start.

I tried running the "repair" program, it did not repair anything.

I manually downloaded the V5.0.0.61 update and ran it again on my PC. BI still fails to start.

I look in my "Task Manager" and BI is not listed as running. I have W10 on my PC.

I am also encountering the same problem after updating to version 5.0.0.61. After I updated from BI5 v5.0.0.59 x64 to v5.0.0.61 x64, Blue Iris crashes after the update finishes and when it tries to re-launch Blue Iris. The Windows' Task Manager shows that Blue Iris is not running in memory. I am running Blue Iris 5 as a standalone app, not as a service. If I try to re-launch Blue Iris again, it crashes immediately with no error messages. I have sent an e-mail to support about this problem a few days ago. I recommend anyone else encountering the same problem should send an e-mail to support@blueirissoftware.

The only solution is to rollback to a previous version. In order to do this, you would have needed to saved the previous version "update.exe" file in C:\Program Files\Blue Iris 5\. Once you update to a newer version, the "update.exe" file is overwritten. I rename my updates so they contain the version as part of the file name (update64_v5.0.0.59.exe).

For the future, I highly recommend turning off "automatic download and install" in Blue Iris settings config (Settings->About tab).
Blue Iris v5.9.4.4 | Win10 x64 version 22H2 | Dahua IPC-HFW2100, Amcrest IP2M-841W, Hikvision MINI PT DS-2CD2F52F-IS, Edimax IC-3030iWn | Intel i5-8700 CPU, 16GB Ram, Samsung 860 EVO 1TB SSD, WD Black 1TB HD.

I just happened to have the .47 version, ran it but still no success. I don't know for sure if it is BI in trouble or MS 1903.

I'm running BI 5.0.0.61 with Win10 Pro, but don't yet have 1903 though I can see it as an available download. I don't think I want to try it yet

I am running 5.0.0.61 on W10 64 pro 1903 and have no issues....but more than likely it is due to what kind of cameras you are running. Sometimes all it takes is just one cam to be the culprit.

I too am having this same issue. However I am NOT running 1903 as seems others are. I even rolled back to the update before that one with no luck. This seems to be an issue with the BI software, at least for me!

Check if you have C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable installed.
Also, there was one or two notes about other files....

This is the readme.txt from one of the earlier V5 upgrades...

To run the software manually, locate the Blue Iris icon on your desktop, and double-
click it. A Blue Iris icon can also be found by clicking the Windows Start button.

If you are upgrading from version 4, a file backup_upgrade_50.reg is created in the
Blue Iris folder. If your cameras and other settings are deleted when you uninstall
version 4, you may re-import these settings using the Import button on Settings.

When Blue Iris starts for the first time, you may be prompted by the Windows Firewall.
It is important that you select "Allow Access" if you will be using any network IP
cameras and to allow the software to check for updates. For proper and highest
performance operation, You should also exempt BlueIris.exe from any network/web
scanning caching by such software as Norton, Eset, Avast!, etc.

If you see a WMVCORE.DLL missing error, you must enable the Desktop Experience feature
of your server OS. Also be sure Windows Media Player is installed and working.
Please refer to:

If there is a problem with system configuration, please refer to this link to install
the Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2019:

https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/down ... tributable

Once Blue Iris is running, click the Help icon for complete "Getting Started"
instructions.

Email support@blueirissoftware.com for assistance if you are stuck.

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply.

I'll check the C++ files.

I just did a reboot of my PC. I had to click on the BI5 Icon 8 times, watch the popup come up and disappear and on the 9th click, BI5 ran with all of my cameras functioning.
