Version 5.9.0.5 & 5.9.0.7.
Rebuilt my BI system from scratch. Everything is working fine... Except Push notifications.
Push notification to my Android phone is not only NOT working, but is being totally ignored, as if it was disabled or not even entered. Other alert types work fine.
When testing the alerts in 'On Alerts/Action Sets', all it says is 'Test Completed'. Nothing about Push.
- Phone is in 'Mobile Devices' AND 'Push' is checked.
- Not using Alert Timers.
-The alert Profile & Zones areal enables.
- No error in BI Log.
- BI Log does not even show 'Push'.
- Nothing in Norton Firewall, and I've testing by turning Firewall off while doing the tests.
Tested my old system, which has always worked. Push notifications worked a couple times, then stopped also! Just checked mu old system again after about an hour, and Push is working! What?
Bizarre. Can't figure this out. Any ideas?
Push Notification not working.
Re: Push Notification not working.
Doesn't "Required AI objects" need to have something in it ? "Person" or "Car" etc ? Maybe even then it wouldn't work with Test.
If it does work with that, can we use a wild card

Re: Push Notification not working.
I just noticed in General Settings/ Users/ when you edit a user it has a notification enable per profile for each user:
Are they all active there ?

Re: Push Notification not working.
And while my ancient black and white brain is still functioning, how does BI5 know which phone to send to without a TAG ? That needs setting up in General Settings/ Mobile devices for each phone, and then adding it to the Tag row in your screenshot above.
Tested here on Android = POP !

Re: Push Notification not working.
Thanks for the replies.
- The two cameras do not use AI,
- My old system did not use tags. I think BI sends to all phones that are enabled for Push... Unless Tags are used.
Opened a case with BI support, and sent them my settings.

Re: Push Notification not working.
Tried specifying a Tag in 'Mobile devices', and in the alert. No Go.
Just tried it on my old 5.8.0.14 system. Works!
Maybe it has something to do with the new Windows Location API.

Re: Push Notification not working.
The new location API appears to be for people using mobile BI5 servers, but I have no idea how big that market is. RV's ?
And here we appear to have found another inclusion/exclusion logic as seen elsewhere in BI5.
FWIW: I'm using BI5 v5.9.0.7 and when I first tried to test PUSH, it stated there were seven action(s) skipped and nothing happened. I then added the tag and a few other things, tested again and it worked. Not knowing which of my actions made it work, I have set up two Android phones for a test.
Testing this morning:
1. Push Config: No "Person" in "Required AI objects:" and No tags. Test window: No "Person" in "Required AI objects:". Test = Pop sound on both mobiles and "6 actions skipped" message.
2. Push Config: No "Person" in "Required AI objects:" and "TimPhone" tag added. Test window: No "Person" in "Required AI objects:". Test = Pop sound on TimPhone only and "6 actions skipped" message.
3. Push Config: "Person" in "Required AI objects:" and "TimPhone" tag added. Test window: No "Person" in "Required AI objects:". Test = No Pop sound on both mobiles and "7 actions skipped" message.
4. Push Config: "Person" in "Required AI objects:" and "TimPhone" tag added. Test window: "Person" in "Required AI objects:". Test = Pop sound on TimPhone and "6 actions skipped" message.
Clearly adding things to "Required AI objects" only works if you are using AI, and would for me restrict the PUSH to the identified object stated like "Person" or "Car", but it works without those in.
I think the beginning of the answer for you will be derived from asking how many actions are skipped when you test PUSH ?

Re: Push Notification not working.
Try triggering the alert push action from a live camera motion trigger rather than using the 'test' function.
This is necessary when testing Pushover alerts these days and may also somehow apply to this situation with later BI releases.

Re: Push Notification not working.
Thank you TimG doe your testing. And Pogo for your suggestion.
I have tested by the 'Test' button in both Trigger/Immediate & Alerts.
Main testing was done with just the one Push.
I did try Tags. Didn't work for me. But hen I didn't do the TimG testing.
I did confirm that Toast SMS, Email worked fine.
Any action that is disable gives the 'skipped' message when testing.
Tried adding the camera from scratch. Same issue.
I did get push notifications working on my two cameras that were having the issue!
How?
1. Add new camera.
2. Copied from and existing camera that Push works. Always works with Continuous & Ai.
3. Change IP, myriad of settings.
So weird,
Sent additional info ti my ongoing issue with BI, and gave up.
If an option is not available, then it should be ghosted out with a pop-up message stating why. Otherwise were just spinning our wheels wondering why something either doesn't work, or, why 2+2=5.
I Quit - for now.

Aha,
I firmly adhere to the Laurie Anderson philosophy, and I let X=X. Life is much simpler that wayor, why 2+2=5
