Outdoor (lower temperature) wifi

Post by JackBauer »

I need it for a detached garage; in the northeast - it gets quite cold here.

I'd get a Reolink to get latest WiFi (I keep things forever)... But their temperature rating is like to 14F, which is to me crazy to consider it an outdoor camera if that's the lowest temp it is rated for.

Anyway I need to replace my existing Dahua (DH-IPC-HDBW1320E-W) because it doesn't do AES encryption, only TKIP (apparently).

Would prefer a dome camera similar to my existing Dahua.

I'm willing to pay more for a quality brand that will last.

Ideas? Thanks!

Edit: Current camera rated to -22F; I don't need that low, but +14F way too high.

Could Powerline ethernet be another option with the existing camera ? I'm using the G.hn protocol type here for two Dahua PTZ's that I couldn't get an ethernet cable to.

Thank you Tim; I had thought about that years ago and lost sight of the idea.

It would be worth a try... If I could only find a power line adapter that was rated to lower temperatures.

(I'd like it to work for 5 years if possible and the odds of an indoor device surviving the freeze / thaw cycles isn't great... My Dahua has been a champ. As well as my (wired) Hikvision located elsewhere)
