Alerts on timeline 24/7 but push alert only at night

Post by Echinos »

Hi. I had put in a question a few days ago, but I had worded it wrong.

I have BI with 2 profiles, day and night. Recording is 24/7, but I have only alerts at night.
The issue is, I would like the timeline to show when there was motion 24/7, but in order to get the little red lightning markers on the timeline, I have to set up an alert.
I can't make the alerts different between day and night - if I delete the push alert in the day profile, it's gone at night too.

I can enable motion detection all the time, but in order to not get a phone alert, I'd have to set the "Alert When" to Never, but that alert seems to be the thing that puts the marks on the timeline.

Any ideas?

24/7 recording plus alerts with notifications scheduled separately can be accomplished in several ways.

The simplest would be to do it in the app itself if scheduling notifications is indeed an option. (I'm assuming you are referring to the Blue Iris app and I'm not familiar with its features.)

The second way would be to use profiles (as you seem to already be doing) and simply schedule the notifications accordingly using the "Night" ("Push") profile while still recording 24X7 with alerts in the "Day" ("No Push") profile. This would be individual camera profiles, not system-wide profiles. The schedules would also be camera-specific vs. system-wide Global schedules.

Another method would be to clone the camera involved and have the cloned camera provide push notifications only during the desired period. The main camera would continue its 24X7 recording with alerts for timeline indexing and the clone would simply provide triggers for the push notifications. The clone uses no additional bandwidth and can be hidden from the normal viewing arrangement.
